Shift Happens When You Influence

Program Description

Competency Cluster: Leadership

Sub-competency: Influence

Behaviors:

• Fosters Collaboration

• Sets the vision for HR initiatives and builds buy-in from internal and external stakeholders

• Promotes consensus among organizational stakeholders when proposing new initiatives

• Serves as a transformational leader for the organization by leading change

This presentation will offer three specific objectives for the participant to walk away with:

 1. A human behavior model that will enhance their ability to influence transaction in the      moment.

 2. A specific language and behaviors to look for and use when applying the model.

 3. Initial steps to utilizing and applying concepts to increase effectiveness as an influencer in the organization.

The behavioral model is Transactional Analysis. Understanding how ego states communicate-and don’t- with each other within communication transactions provides the ability to influence outcomes in a productive and collaborative way.

An easy to apply language within T.A is the Drama Triangle. This allows one to recognize an invitation to the drama party and influence others out of the Drama Triangle and into the OK Corral. This significantly increases collaboration, productive conflict leading to consensus, and effectiveness in change initiatives.

First steps when learning this language and recognizing the behavior will be presented. “How do I know” and “what do I do” questions will be addressed to prepare participants for their first attempts at influencing far more effective board meetings, decision-making meetings, change initiative sessions, and high stake conversations.
